Filling the Tum-Tum of
Someone
Someone
Reflection
I choose my topic by realizing that someone needed to help the people who struggled with hunger. The world is a big place, but I decided that me, Tara McBride, could make a difference in those peoples lives. I figured that I can make the effort and make a difference in their lives. |
I can help change their lives. I can care for them.

As I worked on this project, my understanding of the problem of hunger expanded. I realized that this really is a problem, not just over seas in third world countries, but it is a problem right here in America! I learned that people can help and that we can make a difference! I learned that a lot of people are trying to help, but they can always use another set of helping hands, and that those hands can be mine. My understanding of hunger changed by seeing how desperate people can be because of hunger. Families are effected greatly by the need of food and the lack of. I could see that food can really change a life.
As I worked on this project, I did not hit many obstacles, but one of the main set backs was that when we were first packaging the care packages, we did not have enough ravioli. About 2/3 of the packages did not have the ravioli, so Jenna, my partner, brought more ravioli to fill about 1/3 more of the bags. The other main obstacle that we hit was some of the packaging did not include all of the foods that needed to be in the bags, so we needed to go back through all of the bags and check each one for each food. After all, we wanted the kids to get everything. The project overall, went very smoothly and we were able to help kids in need.

We did not hit any major obstacles. This guy wasn't as lucky. :)

My project of helping hungry kids relates to the theme of "Make a difference" because I was able to give these kids not only a meal that made a difference physically, but I was able to give the kids hope that things could be better. I was able to give them the chance to make a difference in their lives. I was able to give them one more day to change things, to make their lives better. I was able to give them a meal. I was able to give them hope, and I know that that in itself, made a difference. |
